Tactplan Training

Welcome to the Tactplan training site.

Level up your Location Based management skills

Underneath, you will find short training videos, that will level up your Location-based Scheduling and Lean skills. Be inspired, and inspire your surroundings, by becoming a master of Takt Time Planning.

You can also read more about the Location Based Scheduling method.

Healthy work environment

Create a healthy working environment with optimization of flow, elimination of waiting time, and a good site fee for all contractors on site.

Reduce risk

Identify critical issues early in your scheduling. Optimize and reach the deadline in time.

Reduce time and CO2 spent

Reduce your execution time 20% with Tactplan. If 20% is four months, that is four months less CO2 emissions, in  keeping the  site in operation.

What you can learn

5 training videos about Tactplan scheduling to get you started

1. Gantt vs Takt Time vs Flowline

Most project managers are familiar with the classic gantt chart. This is why, most find it helpful, to be able to read the schedule in both flowline view and in gantt view. Learn more about how to work with different views in Tactplan.

2. Start by defining locations

Defining a good location breakdown  structure is important to get started correctly with your Takt Time Plan and  location-based Schedule. It will make your  construction schedule much easier to overview. In this video you will learn all about how to work with locations.

3. How to set up tasks

You can either draw location-based tasks in Flowline, add them in Takt Time view or define them in a collaborative workshop directly in the Network Diagram. In this video you will learn the different ways to add task to your construction schedule.

4. How to set up dependencies

In Tactplan you work with both location-based dependencies and  dependencies between activities.
In this video you will learn how to set up dependencies, and how to work with your network diagram in Tactplan.

5. How to optimize your schedule

In location-based scheduling it is easy to see whether your construction schedule is optimal or includes risk of delays. In this video you will learn to spot the optimization possibilities that are impossible to find in traditional Gantt or CPM scheduling. Learn to schedule with continuous construction flow, parallel crews, and avoid colliding tasks.

“When we go from schedules in MS Project to location-based planning in Vico Office, we cut an average of 20% of the time. We get a much better overview, can remove the gaps, optimize together with the executors on the site and we can get a better construction flow.”

Kristine Ann Barnes

Senior Process Manager, MT Højgaard

About the Location-based Scheduling Method

“With the location-based scheduling, we have the opportunity to look ahead. We are constantly at the forefront, and unforeseen events do not knock us down. We can quickly see the derived effects of them and correct them in time. We continuously optimize the schedule together with the craftsmen, and with the method we can plan to give the craftsmen as stable a staff as possible and make sure to keep the locations available for them as agreed, so they can keep a good rate. It really is a ‘win-win’ for everyone. Also, the client and the professional supervision know exactly what is happening where and based on this also plan supervision. It sends a good signal.”

Anders Wilfert-Becker

Project Manager, Strabag / Züblin Denmark
